Lydia the Frontiersperson
Okay, so I still have hundreds of pictures from our trip, but most are scenery and while they make great screen savers they are not great blog material. But this picture is (;-)

Finally, I have a few pictures to post.
This is Chris outside of the UFO Museum in Roswell, NM
And at another extraterrestrial site, the VLA or NRAO in NM.
By the way VLA is clear from the sing, NRAO is the National Radio Astronomy Observatory
Still in NM here is a great stop along U.S. Hwy. 60 in Pie Town, NM. There are actually two different Pie Town restaurants that cater to pie lovers and both are great! This is the one we stopped at this year. We stopped at the Pioneer Cafe the last time we were through NM.
This is Chris and Jane outside of Taliesin West in Scottsdale. Very interesting tour.
And finally we see Chris and a lorakeet. Very friendly birds that you can stop and feed if you visit Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Ranch, south of Phoenix, nearly into Tucson.

Trip Posting
For all of you who check the blog I am getting ready to post our Arizona Trip pictures. However as there are many, many to go through and to make ready it will still be a few days. However, the trip was a lot of fun. We saw a lot of country and had a great family visit with the opportunity to celebrate the November birthday folks, those being Melanie, Colin and Chris. As soon as I have blog ready pictures I will post them.

Autumn In Wisconsin
It was one of those near perfect autumn days. Not too hot nor too cold. The sky was partly cloudy so you saw the sun on and off. If there was a breeze it was very slight and brought you the aromas of fall in the forest.
Here the four of us are posing for a picture. Kelly was our photographer. We were hiking in a Washington County Park, Glacier Trail.
And here is Kelly with Fiona, notice that Fiona nearly blends in with the autumn carpet.
Matt and puppy.
This is a rest stop near the end. The bench was situated at the top of a hill and the view was very peaceful.
Of course before we could leave this spot, Fiona decided to explore under the bench and tease Matt and Kelly. Matt finally corralled her. We understand that Fiona slept well that night. She certainly slept all the way home.

Bountiful Harvest
A few years ago a friend from work gave me a dozen raspberry plants. Here is Chris, on the last day of September still picking fresh berries. As you can see she has quite a nice bowl and that is not the first harvest of the year. We even share them with our neighbors and still get our fill.

It's been a while
Okay, so I haven't posted anything for a while. But there has not been much pictorially to post. So I was looking at some of my recent pics and found this one of Logan and Fiona. I have a couple more interesting pictures on my camera card that I'll try to get up in a couple days.

40th Anniversary Party & Reunion
It was fun and we all seemed to have a great time. Of course we really don't see each other often enough. Below are some pictures from the week-end.
First we have a group photo of the family. It was a lot like herding cats and I m not sure everyone made it into this photo, but not for lack of effort if your find you were there but not here!
Here is the immediate family. For those who are not sure who that might be, by row, from left to right:
Jane, Chris, Pete, Bo, -- moving down a row Lydia in Melanie's arms, Mel, Kelly and Matt, and moving even farther down is Colin and Nate

Another family group, with the Nemeth clan, again left to right, Donald, Frank, Chris, Brian and Jason.

A HERO'S RETURN
At long last, after a total of fifteen months deployed, Matthew has returned home, safely and in good health.
We had a long wait on Sunday July 22nd, but the day was pleasant and warm. We all ended up a bit sunburned, but it was worth it.
Along with me were Chris and Kelly and Bob and Karen (Kelly's parents). We got to the arrival location at about 10 in the morning expecting a big crowd, we were not disappointed. The soldiers were due in at 1:00 PM, but did not arrive until nearly 3:00.
Below are a few highlights of the event.

Not Much New
Wow, it has been a few weeks since I posted anything. The truth is there is not much new. We have been busy doing yard work and helping with the painting of Matt & Kelly's condo. Otherwise it has been really too hot to do more than a couple hours outside before you want to faint from the heat.
Here is a picture of or house as it looks now.

Father's Day 2007
Father's day was very relaxing this year. Chris & I took a short trip to Freeport, IL, a small city in NW Illinois. We stayed in a Hampton Inn, it was a Hampton Inn unlike any I have been in before, the best I have ever been in. Freeport on the week-end is pretty much vacant so we had the hotel and streets just about to ourselves. There is nothing to do, but relax and that was the point of the trip. We came home relaxed and rested. Below are a couple pictures I took there.
This picture is Logan & me resting in our room.
This is a Civil War Monument in Freeport. There is on octagon on each side, 3 have a list where they fought, the fourth a bit of the history. There are bronze plaques around listing the servicemen lost.
This is a shot of the Hampton and you can see the monument to the left of the building.
This is the Lincoln-Douglas building about a block from the hotel.
And this is just one of the downtown buildings.

Mom's Duty to the Country
More of the visit
Bob & Ann come to town
Bob and Ann Foley were in town. Here they are along with Chris and Logan. Logan in a overt gesture of friendliness managed to tie Bob up in his chair. It took all three of them to de-tangle Bob. The next day Bob was more careful of where he sat and Logan could not encircle him with his line.
Kelly was able to join us for dinner on Saturday evening. We always enjoy her company as did the Foleys. It will be nice when Matt can join her, it is just a few weeks now!
